Spring Revival at the Ray – February 14 – 17, 2010
Revival Time is Here Again! Join us Sunday through Wednesday, February 14 – February 17 as we celebrate our Spring Revival. It is a “Time of Consecration” as we prepare to move into the Lenten season for 2010.

We are honored to welcome Bishop Rudolph W. McKissick, Jr., Senior Pastor of Bethel Baptist Institutional Church, located in Jacksonville, Florida on Sunday, February 14, 2010 at the 7:30 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. worship services.

Our revival continues Monday – Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. nightly in the Main Sanctuary. The guest speakers will be Dr. Carolyn Showell of Baltimore, Maryland, founder and president of The Women’s Institute of Lifelong Learning (The W.I.L.L.); Bishop Walter Scott Thomas, Senior Pastor of New Psalmist Baptist Church in Baltimore, Maryland and Presiding Prelate of The Kingdom Association of Covenant Pastors, and Rev. Dr. William Watley, Senior Pastor of St. James. A.M.E. Church in Newark, NJ. This will be a joyous time in the Lord. IT IS TIME FOR REVIVAL AND WE HOPE THAT YOU WILL JOIN US!

Ride-Share Networking
The Ride-Share Networking (RSN) is designed to provide ride-sharing (assistance and/or carpooling) services for those desiring to come to church but without transportation. Today, you can make a difference in someone’s life through Ray of Hope’s “Ride-Share Networking Ministry.” If you are able to accommodate another person from your immediate residential area, you can sign up starting TODAY through email on the church website or at the bulletin board in the chapel receptionist area. Simply add your name, email address, contact number, immediate area, and whether you are in need of transportation or willing to provide ride-sharing services to someone.

Café Ray
Welcome to Café Ray! Pastor Hale and the hospitality staff would like to invite you to a wonderful dinning experience. Every Tuesday in the Family Life Center from 5:30 p.m. until 6:45 p.m., our Chef and a team of volunteers prepare an evening dinner for the members of Ray of Hope, their families, and guests. What an awesome opportunity for you to fellowship while dinning and preparing for the evening Bible Study. At a reasonable cost of $5.00 per person, you and your family will be served superb delicacies from the kitchen of Café Ray. Also, children under 12 years of age eat absolutely free! Pleas join us and delight yourself with food, friends, and fellowship!!

CHRISTIAN EDUCATION

The C.L. Hale Bible Institute
The winter quarter of the C.L. Hale Bible Institute will begin on Saturday, January 16, 2010. For more information, please contact Rev. Stanley E. Crawford at 770-696-5100 ext. 235.

Terrific Tuesday Witness & Workout for Children
This Bible study is for ages 5-12 and is held every Tuesday night at 7:00 p.m. in the Family Life Center. Exhilarating Bible study, games, fun, and organized physical activities are offered. Space and time is available for children with homework. Every third Tuesday is “Get With It Workout Night.” For safely and fun, we ask that children wear pants and tennis shoes. Children’s Church
Children’s Church is open every Sunday starting at 9:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Children ages 5-12 are provided with an opportunity to learn about salvation through Jesus Christ in their own age appropriate service. Your children are in a safe, energized environment for learning, growing, and fellowship. Volunteers are always needed. For additional information contact Min. Children’s Activities -Worship and Arts
Your child will learn how to give God Extraordinary Service as they participate in the many programs designed for the children age 5-12. Come and join the Raybeams - Children’s Choir and the Seeds of Hope - Children’s Dance Ministry. Rehearsals are held in the Choir Room of the main building on Saturday mornings. Children’s Choir rehearsal is from 10:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. and dance rehearsal is from 11:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. For more information, please contact Min. Gloria McCall at 770-696-5100, ext 243.

COMMUNITY LIFE

Singles Evangelism Clinic- Saturday, February 6, 2010
Ray of Hope Singles! Do you know someone who needs or desires to know Christ? Did you know that you can be the one to lead them to Christ? Saturday, Febraury 6th at 11:00 a.m. in the C.E. Building, come learn ways to share your testimony about who God is to you. Everyone needs to know about our Savior and you are the one to tell them. Join us as we strategiize about how to be effective as we TAKE THE GOSPEL TO THE STREETS!

Transformers (Men of the Ray) and Reconnection – Saturday, February, 20, 2010
MEN OF THE RAY!!! Join the Transformers as we collaborate with the Reconnection Ministry at the Ray. We will serve those who are less fortunate than us on Saturday, February 20, 2010. We will meet in the Family Life Center at 8:00 a.m. Come join us as we transform this present world into the kingdom of God.

Transformers Rights of Passage (TRP) Mentoring
Sunday, February 21, 2010 in the chapel at 1:00 pm, the Transformers (Men of the Ray) will host an orientation for the Transformers Rites of Passage Mentoring Program. Our mentoring program will focus on the following principles:

  • Christian Manhood
  • Academic Achievement
  • Leadership Development
  • Empowered Exposure
  • Brotherhood

If you are a parent who has a son between the ages of 12 and 18, then this program for the young men of the Ray needs your son. Applications for TRP will be available at the orientation. Basketball games continue through February 28, 2010. For schedules or more information please call 770-696-5100, ext. 203.

Youth Baseball
Baseball sign-up begins Sunday, February 7, 2010 for ages 4-11. The cost is $75.00 and a $50.00 deposit is required to hold a space. Practice begins Saturday, March 6th. Sign up after the 10:00 a.m. service at the rear kiosk or at Basketball practice between 7:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. on Thursday or Friday in the gym. Don’t be left out!!! Spaces age going fast.

OUTREACH MINISTRY

Hope Clinic Center Opening
Free monthly healthcare services for persons un-insured or under-insured will begin Sunday February 21, 2010. Our feature service for February will be optometry services. Appointments can be scheduled by calling 770-696-5100 ext 201.

Bread for the World-Offering of Letters
Many Georgians are experiencing food insecurity daily and provision of food assistance is not enough. Join us in expressing our concerns and desire to see tax reforms to help families on Sunday, February 28th following each worship service in the FLC as we write letters to our elected officials. Bread for the World’s 2010 “Offering of Letters” will urge Congress to make changes in tax policy that will help low-income working families make ends meet.

Hunger Walk 2010-Save the Date
On Sunday, March 14th at 2:00 p.m., we will join with people across the metro Atlanta area in a fund raising 5K walk/run to help raise awareness and funds for the Atlanta Community Food Bank. The walk will begin at Turner Field. Contact the Outreach Department at 770-696-5100 ext 201 to sign up and be part of a church team.

Transforming God’s House Project-Save the Date
On Friday, March 5, 2010 beginning at 8:00 a.m., the Home Improvement Team of Hope Clinic will be "Taking it to the Seats" - cleaning all of the Main Sanctuary pews. A team of at least 30 people is needed to accomplish this project. All participants are asked to attend a volunteer orientation on Tuesday, February 23, 2010 from 6:00 p.m. - 6:45 p.m. in the Chapel. A representative will be at the front kiosk on Sunday, February 7th and Sunday, February 14th to answer your questions and sign you up to participate.

Employment Assistance
If you are looking for employment, the state of Georgia has a new website that provides information about state jobs and other employment information. You can access this information by logging on to Careers.Ga.Gov.

Temporary Child Care Assistance (TCCA)
The Georgia Department of Human Services (DHS) has created this new federally funded program that will be operated under the State's Child Care Program. TCCA is funded with a portion of the funds Georgia received as part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) signed by President Barack Obama in February 2009. Funds will only be available until September 30, 2010, after which the TCCA program will be closed.

Families approved for TCCA have the option to choose their own child care provider. However, the provider must be registered or licensed with the Bright from the Start: Georgia's Department of Early Care and Learning. Families eligible for the TCCA program can be actively involved in either, job readiness training, vocational training, technical school or college, or be unemployed or working part-time, 23 hours per week or less.

Temporary Child Care Assistance (TCCA)
To receive TCCA benefits, families must either apply directly online by visiting www.COMPASS.ga.gov or call 1-866-371-TCCA (8222) to receive a paper application by mail. If you know of any families that may qualify for the TCCA program, please encourage them to apply on-line. For questions or more information, please visit the DHS website at www.dhr.ga.gov or call 1-866-371-TCCA (8222).

Employment Assistance
If you are looking for employment, the state of Georgia has a new website that provides information about state jobs and other employment information. You can access this information by logging on to Careers.Ga.Gov.

C.O.M.P.A.S.S.
Georgia Compass is the Department of Human Resources new online food stamp application and pre-screening tool. This website allows customers to apply for food stamp and other social services assistance programs on the internet. You can obtain additional information by logging on to https://compass.ga.gov.

Weight Watchers 2009
Weight Watcher Group meetings are held every Saturday at 12:00 p.m. in the Family Life Center. For more information contact LaTrenda Porter at 770-696-5100, ext. 244.

YOUTH MINISTRY

Young Adult “Open Mic”
The Young Adults cordially invite you to join us for “Open Mic.” This will be an evening of music and poetry in downtown Atlanta, Saturday, February 20th at Juiceez in downtown Atlanta, 20 Jackson Street, Atlanta GA 30312 between Chamberlain and Edgewood. Encounters Bible Study - Ages 13 - 19
Bible study is held every Tuesday night at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel for all middle and high school students. This Bible Study is tailor–made just for teenagers. Fourth Friday Explosion - Friday, February 26th
It all takes place on Friday, February 26, 2010 from 7:00 p.m. - 11:00 p.m. in the Family Life Center. Come hangout for an evening of basketball, music, movies, food, and definitely ministry. We have changed what Friday nights look like. See you there!
